Vectorworks Online Training


These courses use a structured online training system, designed to teach you Vectorworks, delivered to your computer in bite-sized chunks. We use a high speed Internet connection so you can see my computer screen and you can talk to me and the other students. If we need to, your screen can be shown so I can watch you working and correct any mistakes. The courses are delivered in small chunks, so you can digest each session. Between sessions you have a chance to practice the top you have learned.

Vectorworks Essentials Online Tutorial Course

Eight Sessions, each session includes one hour online tutorial plus one to two hours supervised learning. Test and Certificate.

Who should attend:
This course is suitable for all designers or students new to computer aided design and Vectorworks, those with previous Autocad experience converting to Vectorworks and those upgrading from a previous version of Vectorworks who want a refresh and update on all the essentials that you need to use Vectorworks 2012 effectively in commercial practice.

Course description:
In this course you will learn the best ways to work, and how to harness the power of Vectorworks. This is a great course to complete before moving into a specific industry course.

Sessions:
Session frequency is two or three per week, online tutorials start early morning, supervised learning, otherwise know as practice and homework, can occur anytime between sessions and includes reading, watching movies and carrying out exercises.

Testing:
On completion of the course attendees will be offered an online test and upon passing will receive a faCADe Training Certificate.

Course requirements:
Competency with Mac OS or Windows, familiar with technical drafting, access to Vectorworks Fundamentals 2012 on a workstation with large screen, copy of Vectorworks Essential Tutorial Manual by Jonathan Pickup, broadband internet connection plus head set with microphone.

Course beginning:

  • you do not know how to use the basic tools
  • you do not know how to apply graphic attributes to objects
  • you do not know how to create and edit Text and Dimensions
  • you do not know how to create drawings from a 3D model
  • you do not know how to organize information in Vectorworks to create drawings.
  • you do not know how to draw a simple building and create drawings from it
  • you do not know how to create a simple spreadsheet to count and report items in the drawing

Vectorworks Landmark Online Tutorial Course

Course description:
This course will give you basic skills in Vectorworks landmark. The course is ideal for users of Vectorworks Landmark who want to get started quickly. You do not need to have Renderworks for this course.
This course uses a series of exercises to show you how to create planting plans quickly. The exercises start our very simple, so simple you almost can't fail. Each exercise becomes more complex so you expand your skill. When you complete the final session you will be able to know how to create and manuals your plants, how to deal with the plant database and how to work with consultants.

BIM with Vectorworks Architect Online Tutorial Course

17 x 60 min sessions

Course description:
This course will lead you through BIM concepts and show you how to create BIM project using Vectorworks Architect. You must have a small amount of Vectorworks skills before joining this course, it is not for absolute beginners. It is assumed that you have completed the Vectorworks Essentials Tutorial manual. If you have not completed the manual, or do not have that level of skill, you will find this course difficult.

Sessions:
You will be working through a project during the course. This means that during the online sessions you will be shown and guided, then you will be given homework to complete (usually what we have covered in the online sessions). If you are not willing to complete the homework, you will the course challenging. If you complete the homework, you will gain more from the course. The course is broken up into 16 sessions. Each session is about 60 mins long.

Testing:
On completion of the course attendees will be offered an online test and upon passing will receive a faCADe Training Certificate.

Vectorworks 3D Modelling Tutorial Course

This course is designed to give you an introduction to 3D modelling in Vectorworks. 3D modelling can be fast and efficient, if you understand the concepts. This course is designed to give you the best start to 3D Modelling in Vectorworks.

Course description:
3D modelling is one of the fun parts with Vectorworks. It allows you to create almost anything that you want. To get the best from 3-D modelling, you need to understand the concepts that Vectorworks uses for 3D modelling. That is what this course is designed for. This course is to teach you the basic concepts that control 3-D modelling.

Sessions:
This course starts with the basic concepts that you need to understand, and then moves on to more complex tasks. the first part of the course has lots of small exercises designed to teach you 3-D concepts. Session 4 brings a lot of these concepts to group together to create an architectural project. The last part of the course uses a bus stop project to bring together many of the techniques you have learned into a total project.
In this course you will learn about working planes, and why there are important. You will also learn how to look a complex project and break it up into simple manageable chunks.

Testing:
